Equinox Moon Meditation - for Spring Equinox 2011
The Equinox, on 19th March...
...is a time of equal hours of day and night, plus unusually, the Moon is doing something rather special. NASA says the moon will be exceptionally close to the Earth this Saturday night. A rare celestial event, called a perigee moon, will make the moon look larger than usual. This is because when the moon is at perigee, it is closest to the Earth. The"extra full" moon will have more of a gravitational pull which contributes to higher tides or greater variation in the high and low tide.
The Moon will be rising in Virgo at about the same time the Sun is setting in Pisces, so this will offer an amazing chance to see them opposite each other in the late afternoon sky. NASA says the Moon will appear 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual. This perigee moon will be the biggest in 20 years and will not occur again until 2029.
This unique combination of factors makes this a very significant time of balance, harmony and enhanced intuition.
At the Equinox the hours of Light and Dark are equal, the Equinox marks a turning point of the year, after which (in the Northern Hemisphere) the Light gains over the Dark, as the days lengthen. With the Sun and Moon also balanced at this time, we can say that the Male/Female energies are also being balanced.
Bearing all this in mind, I've created a guided meditation for you, which will maximise the opportunites for inner balance and healing which these celestial energies bring. You can simply follow it while seated at your computer, or print out and enjoy at your leisure during the weekend of the 19/20 March 2011.

- You can do this meditation just by following it as you read it through, even while sitting at your computer.
- Make yourself comfortable. Take a few deep, slow breaths and release any tension from face, shoulders & hands.
- Take a moment to imagine your energy field like a large egg shape surrounding you, with your body in the centre like a yolk.
- Now, take your awareness down into your feet, imagine beautiful silver roots emerging from the soles of your feet, travelling deep into the Earth. Let them glide effortlessly through the layers of soil and minerals until you arrive a magnificent Moonstone, buried deep inside the planet. Let your roots gently make contact with this fabulous and magical crystal. As they touch it, the Moonstone starts to glow brightly and you realise that 'she' is alive. She's been awakened by the combined energies of the Full moon and the Equinox and has been waiting for you to make contact so that a channel can be activated. You are the conduit to connect the Earth with the Heavens.
- Allow the Moonstone's energies to travel up through your roots, into your body and up to your heart centre, let your heart be filled with her gentleness.
- Now, send your awareness way up above you, to link with the majestic full Moon, Queen of the Heavens. As your mind connects with her, she sends radiant silvery beams down to you, they enter your energy field via your Crown chakra and continue down into your heart, where they mingle with those of the Magical Moonstone.
- The two energies combine to create a warmth in your heart, which expands to infuse your whole being with a new creative impulse, for this Magnificent Equinox Moon is energising and amplifying your creative and intuitive potential.
- The light from the Heavenly Moon travels all the way down through your chakra centres into the Earth, it blesses and caresses the Moonstone which glows even more brightly, radiating healing, loving energies into the heart of Mother Earth, to soothe and calm her at this turbulent time for our planet.
- Now, once more gaze at the Moon itself, as you do, you become aware that the Moon's light is actually reflected Sunlight, which is bouncing off her brilliant white surface. Notice that the light coming from the Moon into your Crown Centre is flecked with the Sun's golden energy among the silver Moon rays.
- Take your awareness now into your Heart Centre, where you discover two radiant beings of Light; An angel of the Moon and and an Angel of the Sun. They are here to bring you the gift of Balance and to harmonise your male and female energies; Yin and Yang, intuition and action, giving and receiving, inflowing and outflowing. The angels spread their brilliant wings of light and invite you to stand between the two of them. Their blissful divine energies gently penetrate every level of your auric field, creating balance, harmony and upliftment, for your healing and spiritual growth.
- Spend as long as you wish basking in the glorious light of these magnificent angels.
- When you feel intuitively that the balancing process is complete, thank the angels.
- Now send out some of your newly charged and balanced energy from your Heart to our planet; to all the people and living beings of the Earth and oceans who are in need at this time. Ask our Cosmic Creator to help restore perfect love and harmony to our Earth, as gently as possible.
- That done, say Thank you and goodbye to the Angels and also give thanks to the Magical Moonstone, the Earth herself, the to the Moon and the Sun.
- Disconnect your roots from the Moonstone, then allow the energies from the Heavenly Moon to gently withdraw from your Crown Chakra.
- Using your intention, create a sturdy 'shell' around your energy field, strong enough that any lower vibrational enegies will just bounce off.
- Finally, return your awareness to your body, take a few deep breaths and come gently and fully back into the Here and Now.
